Brand identity for a Parisian bakery.

Upper Crust Bakery is a well-known company that recently relocated to a new location. They are best known for their wide variety of freshly baked goods and desserts. Upper Crust Bakery prides itself on using the freshest locally sourced products as much as possible. The company also takes pride in their Parisian roots by incorporating recipes passed down through generations from their home country of France.

ASSIGNMENT Upper Crust Bakery wanted a new logo to accompany their recent relocation. They are well-known for their fresh baked goods and Parisian heritage. They wanted a brand image and logo to portray this.

TARGET AUDIENCE Men and women ages 21-65 who enjoy high-quality and fine baked goods.

SOLUTION & RATIONALE I designed a visual identity based on a custom logotype that describes the freshness of the baked goods Upper Crust produces while paying homage to their Parisian roots. The dark blue, cream, and yellow colors were chosen to pay tribute to the flag of Paris while maintaining a high level of elegance. The gold was selected to represent the wheat and adds warmth and freshness.

The wheat symbol was incorporated to reflect the bakery’s use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, while the Eiffel Tower was used to represent their home country of France. The rolling pin reflects how the company bakes their fresh goods daily.

The chosen typefaces are elegant and traditional since the client takes pride in offering a high-quality experience while sharing their French traditions.
